Susan’s Musings – October 2009
Aloha everyone,
The months seem to role by faster and faster. I love October. Here in Hawaii it is still warm but the days are growing shorter. The color of the sky changes with the seasons here and the main difference is the amount of rain and the temperature of the nights.
Last month Lithuania and Latvia were magical. Everyday I rode my bike along a wonderful bike path accompanied by the sounds of waves lapping, seagulls crying and caressed by gentle breezes. I love watching the lights come on in people’s eyes as we explore the sacred mysteries and release some of the creative ways we keep ourselves disconnected from the divine, powerful magicians we really are. Last year this time I brought my dad home to live with me and I adopted one of my dogs Roxie. She had four homes before mine and I could clearly see why. Today with a lot of patience, hours of watching the Dog Whisperer, discipline and exercise she is a wonderful addition to my family. Anything is possible if we are willing.
I turned 60 the other day and as I look back over my life I am amazed. Right now I am sitting on the lanai of my hotel room looking out at the ocean. I decided to take a week off and relax on the sunny side of the Big Island. When I think back about the years I didn’t have enough money to pay my bills, or when I was addicted to drugs, food, alcohol and cigarettes and I had little or no peace of mind I smile with gratitude.
Today, I see life as a huge amusement park that responds to my thoughts and beliefs. If I believe in life being hard I get to experience that and if I believe in my capacity to create peace and ease I get to experience that as well.
What happened in the past doesn’t matter unless we make it matter. What matters the most is what we focus our attention on right now. One woman in Lithuania believed her life was hard because her mother didn’t love her and never held her. She believed she needed to heal that wound and had spent most of her money going to workshops and seminars that helped her get in touch with the pain of the past. She was totally unwilling to let go and realize that in this moment, if she was willing to love herself and change her thinking her entire life would change.
It was amazing how tenaciously she held onto her excuses for misery. I remember doing the same thing. When I didn’t have enough money to pay my rent Miguel suggested that the whole world was mine to do with as I wished. I remember thinking that was easy for him to say. Before The Four Agreements was released I went to see Miguel. He told me the book would be a best seller, totally believed it and it has sold millions of copies.
The questions I ask myself when I am struggling with some area of my life is, “Am I willing to see this differently yet? How can I see this through the eyes of love? What would I like to experience instead?”
My podcasts are now coming out every two weeks. Hopefully in the next month or so my long awaited, year long video class Art of Allowing will be ready to go. One of the reasons I love October is because of Halloween or as I have come to call it All Hallows Eve. On October 31st I will be doing a tele-ceremony and would love to have you attend. It will be free and details will follow.
As always thanks for allowing me to be part of your process. If I can be of service feel free to drop me a line. If I don’t respond immediately, please don’t take it personally, chances are the email never got to me. And make sure you explore my website. It is being updated and I am constantly adding more articles, meditations and information designed to help you create the life of your dreams.
With love and aloha,
Susan
This month’s books
Here are a few of the books I have been reading this month.
I will once again suggest Wayne Dyer’s book Excuses Be Gone if you didn’t pick it up last month begin using the tools in it this month.
I enjoyed the new insights and perspective Thomas Moore offered about Jesus and the gospels in Writing in the Sand. If you have never read his book Care of the Soul I highly recommend it as well.
I also enjoyed The Four Insights by Alberto Villoldo. Although I don’t agree with his ideas about Karma I found the exercises and practices invaluable.
I have also been rereading The Course in Miracles as well as the Tao De Ching. I bought several translations of the Tao and found I liked Wayne Dyer’s version Living the Wisdom of the Tao the best.
For a fun read Terry Brooks just published another book in his Magic Kingdom series called The Princess of Landover. It is whimsical and fun.
Upcoming events
On October 31st I will be having a tele-ceremony. It will be a ceremony designed to free any trapped souls and for you to release any of your limiting beliefs and set yourself free. Details on how to log on will follow and it will be free.
Both SusanGregg.com and ArtofAllowingClass.com are being transformed, so check them out.
My podcasts are now available every other week so make sure you tune in and if you have any topics you would like to hear me discuss drop me a line. The feedback I have received is wonderful so please tell all your friends!
