About Susan

susan_newSusan believes that life is meant to be happy and free of struggle – that life is an opportunity to remember our divine nature and to have fun.

The Hawaiians say there are many paths to the top of the mountain but the view from the top is the same for everyone. At the top of the mountain, no matter what path you take, you learn to love unconditionally and see the perfection in all of life. The Toltec tradition is one of the many paths that can help you reach the top so you can create a life that is a safe, joyous, loving and fun.

The Ancient Ones were men and women of knowledge in Teotihuacán, Mexico. Their spiritual teachings have been handed down for over two thousand years through generations of shamans, referred to as Naguals. For many years Susan studied with don Miguel Ruiz and his mother Sister Sarita. After she completed her apprenticeship don Miguel told her to go and teach in her own way. With deep gratitude to her mentor, don Miguel, she shares these powerful teachings with others.

Transformation is perhaps the best word to use when describing the life of Susan Gregg. Born and raised in New York City, Susan found her teenage world turned upside down when her parents moved to a small, rural town in northern Vermont.

Susan pinpoints a survived suicide attempt (doctors were amazed she lived after ingesting cyanide) as the turning point in her life. She realized at a profound level that she could no longer run from life’s problems and that there are no outside solutions. Susan became willing to do whatever it took to create happiness and personal freedom for herself. From a very early age Susan always felt there was something beyond what she experienced with her five senses. That feeling sparked the exploration of human potential that led to Susan’s life work.

After graduating from the University of Vermont with a B.A. in mathematics, Susan began to research human behavior and creativity in the mid-seventies. In the mid-eighties she moved to San Diego where she connected with don Miguel Ruiz and Sister Sarita. Sarita and Ruiz schooled Susan in the ancient Toltec Tradition. That training totally changed her inner landscape and her experience of life. She went from being a depressed, lonely, fearful, and unhappy person to a woman who lives life passionately and has a life filled with magic and miracles, joy and happiness.

In Hawaii
susan_in_hawaiiAfter receiving her doctorate in clinical hypnotherapy in 1989, Susan moved to Hawaii and started a private practice. Her first book was Dance of Power. She also wrote Finding the Sacred Self, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Spiritual Healing, and The Toltec Way. Her most recent book is called Mastering the Toltec Way: a Daily Guide to Happiness, Freedom, and Joy and in 2004 it won an award for best new age book of the year.

Her love of healing and her desire to continue to deepen her connection with her divinity led to the exploration of Reiki. She is now a certified Reiki Teacher and Karuna® Master. She has also been studying ancient Hawaiian Spirituality with Mahealani Kuamo’o-Henry. She is a Kumu ‘Elele (teacher and messenger) for her ancestors and an incredibly warm, loving and caring woman. The combination of traditions creates a powerful synthesis. Susan has dedicated her life to being of service and helping others experiencing all the wonders life has to offer.

When not writing or working with clients, Susan likes to spend time with the neglected and injured animals she has rescued over the years. Her love of animals also includes the dolphins she swims with and the turtles she sees while scuba diving. Susan recently moved to the Big Island of Hawaii after living on Oahu for many years.
