Fibers

The world is a vast energy system. One way to see the world is as a beautiful tapestry woven of colorful fibers composed of pulsating energy. The fibers graceful move and we respond with our actions, thoughts and feelings. An event happens and it is as if a string on a beautiful instrument has been invited to sing. Energy has been released and a sound echoes through the universe.

We can focus our attention on out there, on our thoughts and create a conversation with ourselves. We can ‘flesh out’ the event with our story or we can follow the energy within, see where it hooks onto our filter system, and notice our reaction. We can speak gently and lovingly with ourselves, unhook our attention and ask ourselves, “What would I like to create right now?”

Life can be an incredibly graceful dance in which we listen to the music and choose how we want to act or we can get lost in the threads and spend a lifetime reacting.

Where do the fibers in your life pull you and is that the direction you want to go? What song do you want to sing and what dance do you want to dance?

Closed doors

I have an indoor/outdoor cat named Mr. Red. He was a stray I adopted a number of years ago. He loves being near me, but he’s terrified of being locked in. He often comes into the bathroom at night while I take a soaky bath. He sits by the side of the bathtub purring loudly. The other night it was cool and windy so I closed the door rather leaving it ajar as I usually do. A look of panic swept over his face. In the past when I have done that he has yowled loud asking top be let out, but after quite a bit of reassurance he settled down and enjoyed our time together.

I thought about his reaction and how easy it is to miss out on love because of our fear. In the past, the fears of my filter system have destroyed relationships.

We are energy beings and instinctively read energy. We may not be consciously aware of the energy, but we react to it anyway. If we are internally judging someone they pick up on it and react to that judgment. If our fear stops us from fully committing to a relationship our partner reacts to our lack of commitment no matter what our words say.

When I was a child I was very intuitive. More than once I embarrassed my mother in front of her friends by pointing out people’s inconsistencies. I found it very unsettling when people would deny what I intuitively ‘knew’ they were thinking. I think we have all had that experience at one time or another. What doors have you balked at in your life? Have you ever shunned love because of your fear?

Mr. Red reminded my quite eloquently to stay connected and ignore the illusion of what closed doors represent.

So What?

I was teaching class last night and posted this message to my apprentice group – I don’t usually cross post but I thought I would – if you haven’t read the book Running From Safety by Richard Bach I highly recommend it.

Last night was a very powerful class for me – as I said the meditation allowed my thought process to open up and have one of those aha moments. And as ‘magic’ and synchronicity are part of my life after class I was reading Richard Bach’s book Running From Safety and read the following passage – and it was so right on . . . And remember I was talking about the energy behind the words – healing can be used from the role of victim or as a master of creation energy – it is all about the energy we apply to anything.

When we walk into Lease-a-life, what do we expect to rent? we can check out unlimited worlds of appearance, we can buy births and death, we can shop for tragedy and delight and disaster and peace and terror and nobility and cruelty and heaven and hell, we can take home our beliefs, savor them in excruciating searing joyful delicious microscopic detail. But before time and after, through every moment Life is and we are. The one thing we fear most is the one thing that is not possible. We cannot die, we cannot be destroyed.

“We Are” says his inner child – “so what?”

“You tell me Dickie. What’s the difference between victims of circumstance, trapped in lives they didn’t ask for and masters of choice, leading lives they can change at will?”

Victims are helpless (and need to heal their lives) Master’s aren’t (and they can make new choices at will)

It’s fixed, but is it healed?

Recently one of my students broke her leg. After putting in pins and plates the doctor told her the leg was fixed but not healed. When I heard that I started thinking about the difference. It is easy to fix something, but to truly transform it and heal is an entirely different matter.

I started exploring how they each felt. Fixing something seemed superficial and tenuous while healing something felt deeper and more like letting go rather than rearranging.

Students often tell me that of the three masteries they find transformation the hardest. Transformation is much easier when we incorporate the Hawaiian concept of pono. Everything is pono (perfect) until we think otherwise. When we include that in our process we realize we move from one perfect moment to the next. Transformation is no longer an effort it is just a matter of letting go of whatever belief, agreement or assumption has been limiting us.

Life is a constant invitation to connect more fully with our filter system or our spirit. There are no errors or tragedies just opportunities to choose how we feel, what we think and what we are going to create next.

Playing with the difference between fixing something and healing or transforming it is an interesting exploration and a wonderful exercise.
