Savor All of Life
Rainbows require both rain and sunshine in order to exist. There are times here on the Big Island of Hawaii when it will rain for weeks on end. It is easy to get tired of the rain when everything in the house is damp and you haven’t seen the sun for weeks. Judging the rain doesn’t change anything, but if I embrace it I can actually enjoy it.
When a relationship ends or you lose your job it is hard to enjoy the experience and think that it’s perfect. Life is an emotionally rich experience. We can learn to savor it all instead of trying to avoid the ‘bad times’ and hang onto the ‘good times.’ No matter how hard it is raining, the sky is clear on the other side of the clouds.
Every event is an opportunity for us to deepen our connection to our filter system or our spirit. We can label things as good and bad or positive and negative or we can savor all of life. A shimmering diamond is made of carbon just like a lump of coal. We can use life to polish the facets of our hearts and learn to love in an unconditional manner.
Savoring everything in life is merely a decision we make in the moment. Heaven or hell is always only a thought away.
